Elkhart, IN residents: Did you hear Mike Huckabee in concert today?

from local WSBT coverage (CBS affiliate – - web posted story)

“Several hundred people arrived today at the Elkhart RV/MH Hall of Fame to see former Arkansas governor and Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee tape an episode of his news program “Huckabee. ”

Cars started lining up to enter the Hall of Fame’s parking lot at about 11:30 a. m. About 400 seats are available for those who requested them in advance, while other spectators will have to stand to watch the show, which is to air at 8 p. m. . today on the Fox News channel.

Ronald Barger, spokesman for the Economic Development Corp. of Elkhart County, said the public interest is beyond what he expected. Organizers had to move the event outside the facility, at the Indiana Toll Road and County Road 17, to accommodate the larger-than-anticipated crowd.

Diana Engle, vice president of administration at Bennington Marine, an Elkhart-based boat maker, said she came to the taping because she wants to hear what Huckabee has to say.

The economic recession has forced her company to lay off 200 of its 335 employees, she said. ”

Huckabee received a warmer welcome there than Obama did. Wonder why?

I always watch the Huckabee show on Saturday. He is a pretty awesome dude.

I missed it but I did see Ray Price on Huckabee’s show the other day. Price sang two of his oldies, and he looked to be in his 90′s, but you could close your eyes and he sounded just like he did in the 50′s and 60′s.

I think Huckabee is one of the most exciting alternative voices in politics right now. Unfortunately, I used to think the same thing about former VP Chaney, but Mike seems to speak his mind on every subject. Hard to predict what he’s going to say which is a great sign in a politician I think.

I like his sincerity; it worries me just a bit that Fox News gives him his own open forum every week to basically be running for President for 2012 or even 2016 right now. I don’t trust this new era of the Media more than ever before picking our candidates and our ways of thinking for us, which is the way I’m afraid that Huckabee’s show is heading.

However, having said that, Mr Huckabee is a charming fellow. You can see why the camera gravitates toward him the way it did to Kennedy, Reagan, Obama before him.
